The orchestra

The name 'Charity Symphony Orchestra' was first used in 2006 and was the name given to an orchestra conducted by Tom Horn in London. Since then there the name has been adopted and used for concerts in Bristol and Southampton organised by Craig Lawton and Christine Muir.

In 2007 Craig Lawton attained permission from Tom to adopt the name for an orchestra he had been running in Southampton for the past 5 years, and in 2008 plans were announced to formally expand the orchestra and set it up properly.

The orchestra draws players from Colleges, Universities, and Conservatories from across the country, but the strongest link between the players is that they are all friends and colleagues. Concerts allow players to keep in contact, make new friends and use their united skill of music making to help raise money for worthwhile causes.

After three successful concerts in London, Bristol and Southampton, it is hoped that this cycle of concerts will continue annually. Please check out our various pages to keep up to date with what's going on.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our concerts.
