About us

The Charity Symphony Orchestra is a leading and successful fundraising ensemble based on the South Coast of England. The orchestra draws players from across the region and beyond from a pool of around 300 musicians from amateur and professional backgrounds.

Everyone involved with the orchestra, players and management, donate their time and skill to the goal of raising as much money as possible for deserving causes. The orchestra is very sociable, providing an opportunity for members to keep in touch with friends and meet new people. It is a humbling experience to work with so many talented and enthusiastic musicians.

Our Mission

Our aim is to have fun through honest music making and raising money for people who need it.

History

Originally conceived by Southampton University music student Tom Horn, the orchestra's first concert in London during 2006 was a great success and since then the orchestra has gone from strength to strength. In 2008 the orchestra began a revamp to change it's image and at the end of the year the orchestra began it's first full season of concerts running from November to August.

Organisation

The Charity Symphony Orchestra is governed by a Constitution and managed by an elected committee.

Chairman - Craig Lawton / Secretary -  / Treasurer - Mark Carey
Committee Members: Dominic Harries, Russell Sheath, Edwin Ambrose
