Dominic Harries began conducting whilst studying at the University of Southampton. As well as conducting the university's String Orchestra for six years, he was also assistant conductor of the Wind Band, Sinfonietta and Symphony Orchestra. In these posts, Dominic has been privileged to work with some outstanding soloists, including renowned pianist and broadcaster David Owen Norris in a performance of the pianist’s own piano concerto. He has conducted around the UK and abroad on tours to France and the Czech Republic. Dominic is always keen to programme new music, and has worked closely with composers to premiere their works. He has been involved in several projects to promote music to a wider audience, including conducting a memorable performance of Nigel Hess’s To the Stars with a massed choir of local schoolchildren.
