Catherine started playing the cello at the age of six. She was taught by Jenny Harris and a year later joined the Bromley Youth Music Trust and progressed through the orchestras, eventually joining the Bromley Youth Symphony Orchestra at the age of twelve. Whilst with the Bromley Youth Symphony Orchestra she enjoyed entering many competitions where they achieved great success. On starting secondary school, she began studying with Mary Nuttall and gained grade eight with distinction at the age of fourteen.  A year later she joined the Bromley Youth Chamber Orchestra.

In July of this year, Catherine graduated from Southampton University gaining a 2:1 degree in Music.  Whilst at university she studied under the tuition of Paul Cox where she enjoyed playing in a range of musical ensembles and led both cello sections of the Southampton University Sinfonietta and Southampton University Symphony Orchestra.  Catherine has continued her orchestral playing this year by being a guest leader for the cello section of the Wimbledon Symphony Orchestra until Christmas.

Her musical career so far has allowed her to play at many prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, St. Johns Smith Square, Symphony Hall Birmingham, and has recently performed at Cadogan Hall. She has also toured many countries including Bulgaria, Estonia, Poland, Turkey, Italy, Prague and successfully organised Southampton University Sinfonietta’s tour to Spain which took place in September 2009.
