The Charity Symphony Orchestra warmly invites players to join us in the culmination of our 20th Anniversary Season at Romsey Abbey this September. To mark this occasion we will be performing Gustav Mahler's epic Third Symphony which rarely pops up on the non-professional circuit due to its forces and run time over over 100 minutes. It is a work of greate emotive and programatic power. This concert will be fundraising for Orchestras For All.
If you are interested in joining us, it is important you please read the details below and submit the expression of interest form.
We look forward to hearing from you,
Saturday 5th September, 7pm (note earlier start time), Romsey Abbey
Rehearsal from 1400 to 1700 TBC
There will be a rehearsal for this concert on Saturday 18th July 2026 from 1000 - 1600 in the Main Hall at Cantell Secondary School, Southampton.
Demand for this concert will be high not only because of our chosen work but the anniversary year of the orchestra. To manage expectations, a smooth running and enjoyable concert, please read the following before signing up.
We will not be able to accommodate everyone to play, especially in the winds and brass and consideration of your last concert and frequency of concerts will be taken in to account
Doubling and bumping will be used in the wind and brass though with enlarged section writing already there may not be physical room.
It is fair on all involved that, where possible, that both the July and concert day rehearsals are attended in full. This will be taken into consideration especially in the winds
If a place to play is available to you and your circumstances change before July or September, you must let us know at your earliest convenience so we can adjust the balance if required and find alternative players.
